Charis Chalkiadakis is a Civil Engineer, PhD and Research Associate at the Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Prior to NTUA, he was a Research Associate at the Hellenic Institute of Transport of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH – HIT).

He has participated in various transport-related projects funded both from European and National funding mechanisms. He has also participated, as an author, in the writing of scientific papers in the fields of Intelligent Transportation Systems, Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems, and Transportation Networks’ Resilience. His research interests and expertise include, among others, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems, Resilience of transportation systems, Data Collection and Analysis, Transportation Planning, Traffic Modelling, and Transportation economics.

He successfully defended his Doctoral Dissertation “Integrating the Concept of Generic Resilience in Urban Road Network Traffic Management” under the supervision of Professor E. Vlahogianni. His Doctoral Thesis has received a scholarship from the Program of Basic Research of the National Technical University of Athens (PEVE).
