In the context of tackling the COVID-19 disease pandemic, transport authorities are called upon to meet both the demand for safe and secure transport of passengers and the urgent need to protect public health. This goal can be achieved by increasing the frequency of public transport routes, in order to avoid overcrowding and at the same time to meet the passengers’ mobility needs. The aim of the project is to investigate and compare the measures taken during the pandemic period to strengthen urban transportation and specifically the bus lines both in European cities and internationally, and to develop a plan for strengthening urban transport policies after the pandemic. Initially, the impact of the pandemic on urban transport in Europe is investigated and an in-depth assessment of the impact of the pandemic on the OASA bus network is carried out, as well as the measures implemented. Finally, the long-term changes in demand and possible changes in the factors that affect travel mode choice emerged during the pandemic are analysed, with the aim of formulating a plan to create sustainable and resilient policies for urban transport.
