The proposed project aims to design a system of public transport lines in the Municipality of Peania in order to provide the citizens with a reliable alternative means of transport within the Municipality. Τo achieve the objective, firstly, a complete mapping of the transport system of the Municipality of Peania is carried out, which is evaluated in terms of road capacity, quality of public transport, traffic characteristics, and parking characteristics. For this purpose, data from previous studies were collected, complemented by limited scale measurements. Subsequently, in order to record existing travel needs and demand, a questionnaire survey was designed and implemented. The questionnaire also addressed travellers’ willingness to use a new municipal bus line. Travel characteristics were analyzed to assess demand and based on which the municipal transport system was discretized. Finally, the economic viability of the lines was analysed in the context of a detailed economic analysis, which determined the cost of the Municipal Transport for the municipality taking into account the operational characteristics of the vehicles and the Municipal Lines.
