Within the framework of the 8th UN Global Road Safety Week, NTUA successfully organized a Scientific Workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence for Road Safety and Mobility,” which took place in Athens (and online) on May 15th, 2025. The aim of the Workshop was to showcase, through a dynamic series of presentations, the key findings and emerging challenges of major research projects on road safety and mobility conducted by the NTUA Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering.
As part of the Workshop, Panagiotis from the DSAIT team presented the group’s progress in the European research projects FRODDO and ACUMEN. In his presentation titled “Safe System Design for CCAM Services – FRODDO“, he explained how we plan to extend the Safe System Design approach for the safe operation of CCAM services. The second presentation, “Actionable Human in the Loop Traffic Forecasting for CCAM – ACUMEN“, focused on presenting a state-of-the-art human-in-the-loop interface developed by NTUA, where road operators intervene to improve the accuracy of traffic predictions and take informed actions for the management of the road network under critical traffic conditions. These contributions showcased DSAIT’s leading role in leveraging artificial intelligence to advance road safety and intelligent transportation systems.
